The Continentals (5-14, 1-5 NESCAC West) won game one, which was suspended after six innings Friday evening, 7-3, and lost both ends of Saturday’s scheduled doubleheader by scores of 7-0 and 7-2. Hamilton hadn't posted a victory against Wesleyan since April 29, 2006. The Cardinals had won 22 in a row against the Continentals before Saturday morning.

Hamilton led Friday’s series opener 7-3 when the game was suspended. The Continentals closed out the win Saturday morning when Kelly Leonard ‘15 finished the complete game with a scoreless seventh inning. Leonard picked up her second win with her fifth complete game. She struck out three Cardinals.

Sam Miller ’14 hit a two-run double to highlight Hamilton’s four-run second inning. Ellie Kiernan ’15 doubled to left center to lead off the inning, moved to third on a ground out and stole home to tie the score. Olivia Gozdz ’16, who finished with three hits, and Leonard followed with singles before Miller brought home the go-ahead runs. Miller scored on a double by Sarah Moore ‘16.

Hamilton added two more runs in the fourth. Monique St. Jarre ’15 scored on a wild pitch and Gozdz singled in Hannah Staab '17, who had drawn a one-out walk. St. Jarre’s fifth-inning single brought home Miller to close out Hamilton’s scoring.

Miller doubled twice, singled and scored two runs. Leonard and St. Jarre had two hits apiece.

The Continentals were held to one hit in the opener of Saturday’s doubleheader. Wesleyan’s Su Pardo ’16 fanned seven and allowed just three base runners. Pardo retired the first eight batters before Kiernan singled for Hamilton’s lone hit.

Abigail Rutt ’17 doubled twice and singled and finished with four runs batted in. Jill Gately ‘15 hit a two-run home run and Amy Lindland ’14 finished with three hits.

The Continentals took a 1-0 lead in the nightcap on Gozdz’s first-inning double that scored Staab, who led off with a single.

Gately’s two-out, two-run homer in the bottom of the inning put Wesleyan (9-10, 2-3) ahead for good. Rutt broke the game open with a fourth-inning grand slam.

Kiernan drove in a run in the sixth. Gozdz, who finished with two hits, doubled to lead off the inning, stole third and scored on Kiernan’s infield single.

The Continentals are scheduled to play their first home games of the season on Tuesday, April 8, against Utica College for a doubleheader that starts at 3:30 p.m. Wesleyan plays at Coast Guard on Tuesday afternoon.
