Associate Director for Digital Innovation, Learning & Research Nhora Serrano contributed to one of the Toolkits for Equity in Scholarly Publishing, hosted by the Coalition for Diversity and Inclusion in Scholarly Publishing (C4DISC) on PubPub, an open-source community-led publishing platform.
Serrano said the “Antiracism Toolkit for Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) in Scholarly Publishing” was a multi-year endeavor that involved the work of BIPOC scholarly publishing staff based in the US and in Canada.
Intended to be a resource primarily for BIPOC-identifying publishing professionals, she said the contributors intentionally designed this living document as a way for BIPOC readers with different experiences to contribute to this ever-changing conversation.
Serrano said she hopes the toolkit “can offer practical insights for BIPOC staff on how to network and build a support system, as well as new perspectives on how to thrive in the academic scholarly publishing field.”
The third in a series of three, this toolkit is available as a free download on the C4DISC website.
