Ohio State University Press recently published the 61st volume in its Theory and Interpretation of Narrative series. Professor of Comparative Literature Peter J. Rabinowitz, co-edits the series with James Phelan and Robyn Warhol.
The newest volume is Gary Weissman’s The Writer in the Well: On Misreading and Rewriting Literature. In his book, Weissman proposes a radical pedagogical approach to teaching literature, one centered on the way that writing about literature can serve as a process of interpretive discovery.
Using Ira Sher’s short story “The Man in the Well” as his primary literary example, Weisman includes numerous written analyses by his students, as well as a concluding dialogue with Sher himself.
