Visiting Assistant Professor of English and Creative Writing Andrew Rippeon recently attended the Wells College Book Arts Summer Institute. The Summer Institute offers a series of workshops taught by nationally regarded craftspeople with expertise in book and paper arts, type design, and print history.
Rippeon participated in a week-long workshop led by press-expert and master printer Paul Moxon on history, maintenance and printing techniques relevant to various models of the Vandercook proof press. The advanced printing and press-maintenance Rippeon practiced during Moxon's course will be of use as Rippeon continues to develop the letterpress studio at Hamilton College (which features two models of Vandercook proof presses).
