Reverend Colleen (Hallagan) Preuninger ’06 has been named United Methodist ecumenical chaplain at Syracuse University’s Hendricks Chapel, effective July 1. She was ordained on June 1.

The United Methodist ecumenical chaplaincy is not exclusive to United Methodists, offering leadership, vision, and faith to all who wish to participate. Reverend Preuninger was hired to help transform the chaplaincy by reaching out and building relationships with students, the university community, and local churches.

"I think, first and foremost, I bring the gift of enthusiasm. I have never done campus ministry as such, but it has a lot do to with being passionate and being authentic to yourself. This generation craves authenticity and a willingness to struggle in the midst of questions," said Preuninger in a press release from the Upper New York Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church.

Preuninger previously served at the First United Methodist Church in Oneida.

Preuninger graduated from Hamilton College in 2006 with a degree in art and German studies. She received her Master of Divinity from Princeton Theological Seminary.
