Professor of Government Peter Cannavò recently discussed “Frederick Douglass: Freedom, Equality, and Virtue in the Grand Old Earth” in a virtual talk at Xavier University. The event was sponsored by Xavier’s graduate programs in public affairs and urban and regional sustainability and resilience.
Cannavò's talk was based on a chapter currently in development for his forthcoming book, To the Thousandth Generation: The Green Civic Republican Tradition in America, and focused on ways the traditions of environmentalism and civic republicanism have interacted with each other in U.S. history.
