“Diggit Profile: Mariam Durrani,” an interview with Assistant Professor of Anthropology Mariam Durrani, was recently published by Diggit Magazine, a community-driven academic news and information platform connected to the Online Culture and Culture Studies programs at Tilburg University in The Netherlands.
Interviewed by Tilburg Professor of Language, Culture and Globalization Jan Blommaert, Durrani discussed balancing her research and academic work with her social-justice advocacy work.
“What kind of scholar, or human, would I be, if I saw my work as merely describing these injustices but not speaking publicly against it?” she asked.
