Professor of Hispanic Studies Joana Sabadell-Nieto recently organized a panel at KFLC, the Languages, Literatures, and Cultures Conference at the University of Kentucky.
The panel, E/MOCION/ARTE, was a forum for the exchange of ideas on contemporary Spanish production from a theory of emotions perspective. Papers on feelings such as resistance to fascism, self-awareness, and homocionality, among others, were presented.
Sabadell-Nieto presented an analysis of Spanish filmmaker Isabel Coixet’s movie Nobody Wants the Night, 2015, about Josephine Peary’s search for her husband. Sabadell-Nieto also discussed her own expeditions to the Arctic and “the difficulties and rewards of defrosting from big and paralyzing ideas and into life.”
