Assistant Professor of Anthropology Mariam Durrani discussed “Speech Codes” at Fordham University on April 14. Her talk was presented in a session on “Situations on the Ground,” part of the Hate Speech or Free Speech: The Politics of Language on College Campuses workshop.
The event featured linguists and linguistic anthropologists, legal scholars, college administrators, cultural anthropologists, and journalists who presented their perspectives on topics such as campus activism, anti-racism education, and speech codes.
