Teaching Fellow in Hispanic Studies and Fulbright Scholar María Gabriela Portal discussed her first semester experience in a presentation titled “My First Three Months on the Hill,” at the Fulbright Foreign Language Teaching Assistants (FLTA) Conference held December 8-11, in Washington, D.C.
Hosted by the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, the conference had three main purposes: to offer a forum in which scholars could process and share the experiences of the first semester, to help prepare for the second semester and to provide opportunities for professional skills and knowledge that will expand in the Fulbright FLTA program. More than 400 FLTAs from 49 countries attended the conference.
