
Assistant Professor of History Mackenzie Cooley recently received the Modern Language Association (MLA) Aldo and Jeanne Scaglione Prize for Comparative Literary Studies 2023 Book Award for The Perfection of Nature: Animals, Breeding, and Race in the Renaissance. The award was presented in a ceremony at the MLA annual convention in January.
The Perfection of Nature, a history of how Renaissance Italy and the Spanish empire were shaped by a lingering fascination with breeding, was published by the University of Chicago Press in the fall of 2022.
