Hamilton College women's rowers Jess Pedersen '15 (Wellesley, Mass./Wellesley HS) and Hideko Nara '15 (New York, N.Y./Dalton School) have received 2013 national scholar-athlete honors from the Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association (CRCA).

Pedersen was a member of the varsity eight and primarily rowed in the three-seat and in the bow. She was in the three-seat of the varsity eight for Hamilton’s fourth place finish in the third final at the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC) championships in May.

Nara spent the spring rowing stroke seat for the second varsity eight. She helped the Hamilton second varsity eight to sixth place in the petite finals at the 2013 ECAC championships.

Hamilton was ranked No. 11 in the USRowing/CRCA Division III Top 15 poll at the start of the spring season and spent three weeks in the poll. In the final 2013 NCAA Division III regional rankings, Hamilton was No. 4 in the New York Region.

Student-athletes that make the list need a cumulative grade point average of 3.50 or better through the fall semester. The student-athletes must be at least a sophomore in academic eligibility and must have rowed in the institution's NCAA eligible boat for a minimum of 75 percent of the spring races. The program's head coach, Eric Summers, must be a member in good standing with the CRCA. Summers just completed his ninth season at the helm.
