Judy Owens-Manley, director of the Bonner Leaders Program and Levitt Center associate director of community research; Jordan Fischetti '08 and Stephanie Wolter '07, both Hamilton graduates and AmeriCorps VISTA Service-Learning Coordinators at Hamilton; and Stefanie Russell '12, a Bonner Leader and Bonner Congress Representative presented two workshops at the Bonner Summer Leadership Institute in Deland, Fla. June 3-6. Fischetti coordinated the Bonner Leader Program this year and the Youth Development Service-Learning Project in the Levitt Center. Stephanie Wolter has been the coordinator for Project SHINE (Students Helping in the Naturalization of Elders) for the past two years.

The workshops presented by the Hamilton group were Refugee & Immigrant Issues: Deepening Levels of Engagement and The Beginnings of a Youth Development Project: Challenges & Rewards. The Summer Leadership Institute brings together students, faculty, and administrators from 80 colleges and universities across the country with Bonner programs for four days of exchange, workshops and planning. The conference focused on strengthening local communities and building a broader campus culture and infrastructure for civic engagement.
