Monica Gutierrez ’15 recently participated in the 57th annual Flaherty Film seminar, held for the fifth year at Colgate University June 16-22. She was sponsored by the Digital Humanities Initiative, and reported on the films and her response to them on the DHI Facebook page.
The Flaherty Film Seminar focuses on documentary film, a field that Gutierrez would like to explore further through her courses at Hamilton. Edmund A. LeFevre Professor of English Patricia O’Neill and Visiting Professor of Art History Scott MacDonald also participated this year.
The seminar consisted of film showings followed by discussions with the filmmakers. This year’s theme was memory and the retrieval of histories.
