Michael Hosek ’19 presented a poster at the 17th Annual American Meteorological Society (AMS) Student Conference in Austin, Texas, on Jan. 7. “Case Study of Thunderstorm Rotation Patterns in a Tornadic and Non-Tornadic Supercell near Scranton, Pa., on Feb 25, 2017” was based on his internship with the National Weather Service in Binghamton, N.Y., last summer.

In the fall, as part of his work in Geosciences 399: Independent Study with Professor of Geosciences Cynthia Domack, Hosek submitted an abstract to conference organizers. He put his poster together following his acceptance.
The student conference was part of the three-day 98th annual AMS meeting.
Hosek, a physics major with minors in geosciences and mathematics, is planning a career in atmospheric science.
