The Hamilton College Continentals wrapped up their spring trip by splitting a pair of non-conference matches in Orlando, Fla., on Thursday.
The Continentals (6-4 overall) knocked off Division II Saint Michael’s College 8-1 and were edged 5-4 by Otterbein University.
The team of Austin Lokre ’16 and Max McKee-Proctor ’17 won both their third flight doubles matches and improved to 10-4 on the season. The Continentals swept the three doubles matches in the win over Saint Michael’s, with James Oliver ’15 and Ben Swett ’14 blanking their first flight doubles opponent and Ian Antonoff ’16 and Matthew Billet ’15 teaming for an 8-1 win at the second spot.
Swett and Billet were straight-set winners at second and third flight singles, respectively, in the Saint Michael’s victory. Jonathan Cohen ’17 won in straight sets playing at first flight singles for the first time. Burke Paxton ’17 and Jack Vissicchio ’17 recorded 6-1, 6-0 wins at fifth and sixth singles, respectively.
Cohen raised his singles record to a team-best 8-4 with a win at the third spot in the Otterbein match. Antonoff improved to 8-5 by winning at fifth flight singles and Vissicchio was a 6-4, 6-0 winner at sixth flight singles.
The Continentals are idle until they host Utica College and St. Lawrence University for non-conference matches on Saturday, March 30.
