Hamilton College split six singles matches and captured two of three doubles matches to claim a tense 4-3 win against host Union College in Schenectady, N.Y., on April 19.
Jared Friedberg '09 and Brad Polan '06 pulled out three-set matches at fourth and fifth flight singles, respectively. Polan evened his record this season at 7-7 with a 6-3, 3-6, 6-1 victory. Friedberg won his fifth singles match, 4-6, 6-2, 6-2. Mark Segal '09 improved his record to 7-5 with a 6-4, 6-4 win at sixth flight.
Segal and Friedberg teamed up to win their third flight doubles match, 8-5. The team is now 3-3 this spring. Dan Gordon '08 and Reid Snyder '08 are now 6-6 as the Continentals' top doubles team thanks to an 8-6 victory.
Hamilton (4-7 overall) plays Union again on Saturday, April 22, in a Liberty League Championships quarterfinal match at Vassar College in Poughkeepsie. The Continentals are the fourth seed out of eight teams and the Dutchmen are seeded fifth. The match will start at 11 a.m. if it's played outdoors. If the match is played indoors, it won't start until noon.
