Sam Dwyer '10 scored an unassisted goal from 30 yards out to lift visiting Hamilton College to a 2-1 overtime victory against nationally ranked No. 21 St. Lawrence University in a Liberty League game played at Sandy MacAllaster Field on Oct. 20.
Dwyer's second goal this year came with just 14 seconds left in the first overtime period. Hamilton (6-2-3 overall, 3-2-1 league) clinched a spot in the league championships tournament for the sixth straight year. Dwyer was credited with an assist on Hamilton's first goal, which was scored by Max Akuamoah-Boateng '09 in the 43rd minute. After a restart, Dwyer crossed the ball in front of the goal, where there was a scramble for possession. Dan Dropkin-Frank '09 flicked the ball on to Akuamoah-Boateng for his third goal. After a scoreless second half and nearly an entire first overtime period, Dwyer's second goal this year ended the game.
Anthony Carello '09 made a season-high 10 saves, including six in the first half. The Saints (8-2-3, 4-1-1) held a 20-9 advantage in shots and took two corner kicks to the Continentals' one. St. Lawrence grabbed an early 1-0 lead in the eighth minute.
