Joe Hudson '10 scored his second goal this year just two minutes in and the Hamilton College defense recorded its sixth shutout as the Continentals edged visiting Vassar College 1-0 in a Liberty League game played at Love Field on Oct. 5.

Hamilton (4-2-2 overall, 2-2-0 league) notched its first goal since a 1-0 win at Skidmore College two weeks ago. Anthony Carello '09 made three saves and lowered his goals against average to 0.49. Carello's save percentage improved to .875.

Hudson's goal was unassisted. He controlled a loose ball in the goalie box, dribbled once and buried a shot in the back of the net. Max Akuamoah-Boateng '09 led the team with four shots.

The Continentals held a 12-7 advantage in shots and took five corner kicks to Vassar's four. The Brewers (6-3-0, 1-2) managed one hard shot in the first half that forced Carello to charge off his line and dive to make the save. Vassar has lost three of its last four games.

Hamilton has won six straight games against the Brewers and the Continentals lead the all-time series with 14 wins, three losses and four ties. Hamilton hosts Rensselaer for another league game on Saturday, Oct. 6, at 2 p.m.
