Hamilton College rowers competed in three races at the 2013 Head of the Schuylkill Regatta in Philadelphia on Oct. 26.

The Schuylkill River course is approximately 2.5 miles long with a minimal current. Race conditions were sunny and 40 degrees for the early races with temperatures rising into the mid 50s. Winds were calm at first and built throughout the day to a quartering headwind of 20 mph with higher gusts.

Hamilton finished in 13th place out of 15 boats in the men's college and open championship eights with a time of 15 minutes, 21.08 seconds. Drexel University captured the gold medal in 13:51.09.

In the men's college and open club eights, Hamilton had a pair of entries. Hamilton's "B" entry finished 15th out of 25 boats with a time of 15:30.18 and the "A" entry was right behind in 16th place and a time of 15:33.30. One of Drexel's entry captured first place in 13:38.86.

Hamilton claimed fourth place out of 18 finishers in the men's collegiate frosh/novice fours with cox with a time of 17:02.38. Villanova University took first place in 15:51.42.

The coxswain for the championship eights was Sawyer Konys '16. Jared Lippman '16 was in stroke seat and Gardner Reed '14 was in the bow seat. Seats seven through two in descending order included:  Kyle Leahy '14, Grant Meglis '14, Landon Morin '16, Patrick English '15, Russ DeGrazia '15 and Jack Wildman '15.

The coxswain for the club eights "A" entry was Cole Mattran '15. Philip Ewing '15 was in stroke seat and Andrew Szatkowski '15 was in the bow seat. Seats seven through two in descending order included:  Andrew Sprague '16, English, DeGrazia, Marc Horschman '16, Reed and Tianshu Liu '16.

The coxswain for the club eights "B" entry was Bowin Lee '17. Mark Colleran '17 was in stroke seat and Leahy was in the bow seat. Seats seven through two in descending order included:  Alec Melone '16, Meglis, George Segee-Wright '17, Richard Wenner '17, Lippman and Wildman.

The coxswain for the novice fours was Cole Bodak '17. Oliver Magnusson '17 was in stroke seat and Michael Burchesky '17 was in the bow seat. Charlie Feinberg '17 was in 3-seat and Will Fierston '16 was in 2-seat.

The team's fall season is over and they will start rowing again in March 2014.
