Hamilton College men's basketball player Tsakani Ngobeni '07 (Soweto, South Africa/St. Anne's-Belfield School [Va.]) was recently selected a Division III second team All-American by the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC).
Ngobeni is one of 24 players from all of NCAA Division III on the All-America team. He is the 14th Hamilton men's basketball All-American in program history. Those 14 players have received 22 All-America awards.
Joe Smith '04 was the Continentals' most recent honoree as a second team selection in 2004. No NCAA Division III men's program has more All-Americans or more All-America selections than does Hamilton.
Ngobeni was named NABC first team all-East region and the Liberty League Player of the Year after the 2006-07 season. The 6-foot-5 forward finished in the league's top 10 in five categories, including second in the league in scoring (17.0 points per game) and rebounding (7.8).
Ngobeni finished his Hamilton career with 1,388 points, which leaves him in 10th place on the storied program's all-time list. He also grabbed 742 rebounds and blocked 103 shots in 100 career games. Ngobeni helped lead Hamilton to a 19-7 overall record, its second straight league regular season title and fifth consecutive league championships tournament final appearance in 2006-07.
