The Hamilton College women have been picked to finish third and the men are in fourth place in the 2010-11 Liberty League basketball preseason coaches poll, which was released on Nov. 9.

The Hamilton women received one first-place vote and 35 points. Rensselaer was first with 42 points, St. Lawrence University was second with 40 and Skidmore College and William Smith College tied for fourth place with 28 points. Rensselaer, St. Lawrence and Skidmore all received at least one first-place vote.

The Hamilton men ended up with 32 points. Hobart College was selected to finish first with 47 points, St. Lawrence was second with 42 and Skidmore was third with 34. Hobart (five) and St. Lawrence (three) garnered all eight first-place votes.

The top four teams in the final standings will compete in the 2011 league championship tournaments, which are hosted at the site of the top seed. The semifinals are scheduled for Friday, Feb. 25, and the championship games are on Saturday, Feb. 26. League play begins on Jan. 10, 2011.

The Hamilton women finished fourth last season and played in a league tournament semifinal game at Skidmore. They open this season at Rochester Institute of Technology's Tiger Tip-Off Tournament on Saturday, Nov. 20.

The Hamilton men open 2010-11 with the team's own tip-off tournament on Friday and Saturday, Nov. 19 and 20. The Continentals play University of Pittsburgh-Bradford at 8 p.m. on Friday. The consolation and championship games are at 2 and 4 p.m., respectively, on Saturday.
