Professor of Mathematics Robert Kantrowitz ’82 was a speaker earlier this month in the mathematics colloquium series at the College of Wooster.
His talk, “Archimedes meets geometric series,” centered around the Archimedean property which guarantees that, given any real number, there is always a natural number that is greater. Kantrowitz detailed the equivalence of the Archimedean property and the convergence of certain infinite geometric series.
