On Aug. 12 Jason Haas '07 will begin as a community manager at Mozilla, the nonprofit organization that runs the Firefox project, as well as other products and initiatives. His new role will take him to San Francisco, where he will be responsible for coordinating volunteer programs and events around the world. "The success of my new role will draw from my experience as an organizer and marketing consultant, engaging and empowering those who seek to create positive change," said Haas.
This year Haas also teamed up with New England's Gay & Lesbian Advocates & Defenders (GLAD) to film a video for the “It Gets Better” Project. The Project began in September 2010 with the mission to give hope to lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ) youth who are bullied by their peers by broadcasting supportive messages from LGBTQ adult and straight allies. The Project has since gained submissions from celebrities, politicians, activists, and organizations. Haas's video can be viewed here.
At Hamilton, Haas received the prestigious Posse Foundation full-tuition leadership scholarship and majored in government and communications. Among other roles, he has served as the founder and co-chair of the College's LGBT and straight ally alumni network, Spectrum, and worked as a Senior Field Organizer for Barack Obama's 2008 presidential campaign.
