Director of Learning and Research Services Nhora Serrano recently discussed “Depicting Mexico and Modernism: Gordo by Gus Arriola,” an exhibition about Arriola’s life and legacy that she curated at The Ohio State University’s Billy Ireland Cartoon Library & Museum. The scholarly presentation kicked off a celebration of the exhibition and took place during the library’s annual Will Eisner Week festivities.
“Depicting Mexico and Modernism” is on display through May 5. The exhibition features Gus Arriola’s “Gordo,” a syndicated comic strip that ran in newspapers from 1941 to 1985.
In April, Serrano will discuss the exhibition in a webinar, “Curating a Latinx Exhibit ~ Depicting Mexico and Modernism: Gordo by Gus Arriola,” in Burke Library’s All Night Reading Room.
