Yuri Choi ’21 has been awarded a Fund For Education Abroad (FEA) scholarship. Choi will study in the Netherlands during the spring 2020 semester. The mission of FEA is to provide scholarships and ongoing support to students who are underrepresented among the U.S. study abroad population.
A women’s and gender studies major with a minor in communications education, Choi said she chose to study in the Netherlands “for the opportunity to study gender and sexuality in a country known for its progressive laws and policies. Studying in the Netherlands will broaden my scope regarding social issues from cultural perspectives very different from my own,” she said.
Major: Women’s and Gender Studies; Minor: Communications & Education
High School: Long Island Lutheran Middle & High School, Brookville, NY
Hometown: Albertson N.Y.
At Hamilton, Choi is a Career Center Connect Team Network Associate, a sports medicine student assistant in the Athletic Department, and has served as a HEOP Summer program office intern.
FEA recipients are chosen by a competitive selection process, said Ginny Dosch, student fellowships coordinator. “We encourage students to apply for the FEA as a way to offset study abroad expenses and help support opportunities that expand academic and cultural experiences,” she said.
Since 2010, FEA has awarded $1.8 million in scholarships to 466 undergraduates.
