Former All-American offensive lineman Joe Gilbert '87 has been hired as an assistant offensive line coach for the National Football League's Indianapolis Colts.
As a senior in 1986, Gilbert was the first Hamilton football player to earn first team All-America honors. He was a NESCAC all-conference selection in 1985 and 1986.
Gilbert's first coaching job was in 1987 as a graduate assistant at the University at Albany. He has coached for many Division I programs, including the University of Illinois as the offensive line coach for the past three seasons. Gilbert also served as an assistant head coach during his final two years at Illinois. Before joining the Colts, Gilbert had been hired as the assistant head coach and offensive coordinator at the University of Alabama-Birmingham.
