On Saturday of Fallcoming weekend, the three alumni winners of May 2008 Alumni Participation Challenge raffle enjoyed lunch with President Stewart and Hamilton's new Chairman of the Board A.G. Lafley '69 (chairman of the board and president of Procter & Gamble). Winners were selected at random from a pool of 407 alumni who made their 2007-08 Annual Fund gift in May.
Alysa Arnold '98, who was accompanied by her sister Erica Fuller '01, and Peter Rost '82 enjoyed a delicious lunch with the President and the Chairman in the main conference room of the Anderson-Connell Alumni Center. The third winner, Christina Bates '05, was delayed in travel and was unfortunately unable to join the group.
Reflecting on the experience, Peter Rost summarized his experience: "Returning to the Hill in the fall is always a wonderful experience that I look forward to. The changing leaves, football, the Clinton Cider Mill are all autumn touchstones. This year the visit had the added excitement of having lunch with President Stewart and Board President A.G. Lafley along with two more recent alums. It was very enjoyable to hear stories of Hamilton from three different generations and of the leadership's plans for the future. I drove away from the campus at the end of a memorable day refreshed in my love and appreciation of Hamilton and its future."
Thanks to the sustained support of thousands of alumni, parents and friends, Hamilton's 2007-08 Annual Fund raised $5.8 million unrestricted gifts, equal to $116 million in equivalent endowment dollars. For this very reason, President Joan Stewart calls the Annual Fund "the lifeblood of the College". No less impressive and equally important were the 8,542 alumni donors, who represent a 52.2 percent participation rate and make us the envy of our peers and reinforce the strength of the fundamental statement "It's Who We Are".
