Associate Professor of History John Eldevik recently returned to his undergraduate alma mater, Pomona College, to deliver a keynote address at the 4th biennial Late Antiquity/Medieval Studies (LAMS) Symposium.
This year's symposium, held Feb. 23-25 in Claremont, Calif., brought together a group of current undergraduate LAMS concentrators, recent graduates, and Claremont alumni around the theme of "Legacies."
Eldevik's address was titled "Apostolic Legacies and Medieval Legends: Prester John's India and Christianity's Global Reach," and described the renewed interest in early apostolic legends and the evangelization of distant parts of the world during the so-called "Renaissance of the Twelfth Century," in western Europe.
