The Diversity and Social Justice Project student conference will take place at Hamilton on Saturday, Sept. 8, in the Science Center. Students from Hamilton, Colgate University and Union College will be presenting their work on a variety of relevant topics. The conference will begin with a lecture by Dr. Leslie Thiele of the University of Florida titled, "You Can Never do Just One Thing; What Ecology Teaches us About Social Justice." Both the lecture and the rest of the conference are free and open to everyone; no registration is required to attend.

Throughout the conference presentations will be made by some of Hamilton's own, including Maxwell Akuamoah-Boateng '09 presenting "Dental Healthcare for Change: A study and service project on dental healthcare in Ghana"; Sally Powell '09, "Volunteer Internship Community Development Africa"; Yongsun Kwon '10, "The Virginia Tech Killings and the Media's Onslaught of Minorities"; and Keya Advani '08, "Reading Between the Lines: Literature as Protest Amongst 'Untouchable' Communities in India"

Hilary Handin, Union College, "Women's Reproductive Health Care Struggles in Afghanistan;" Sara Nash, Union College, "Iranian Women and Their Quest for Gender Equality;" and Keya Advani '08, Hamilton College.

The third student session will also include a panel discussion titled, "Beyond the Hill: Hamilton Opportunities in the Non-Profit World." It will take place in Science Center G042 and is led by the following students: Corinne Bancroft '10, Winter Burhoe '08, Joshua Cheung '08, Lindsay Getman '10 and Pat Hodgens '09.
