Reviews of The Decisive Network: Magnum Photos and the Postwar Image Market, by Assistant Professor of Art History Nadya Bair, appeared in recent issues of Art Journal and Critical Review. The book was published last year by the University of California Press.
In a review appearing in Art Journal, Margaret Innes, a postdoctoral researcher in the Department of Art and Music Histories at Syracuse University, said that in The Decisive Network, Bair “offers an archivally rich and methodologically innovative study of Magnum …”
In Critical Inquiry, reviewer Douglas R. Nickel said the book “will come as something like a breath of fresh air within the stagnant methodological atmosphere of photographic studies today,” and called Bair’s approach in her examination of Magnum “refreshing.”
Reviews of The Decisive Network have also been published in the photo journals Transbordeur (France/Switzerland) and Fotogeschichte (Germany).
