Since her graduation, Danielle Ain '09 has been working for Abroad101, an internet startup review site for study abroad programs. Recently, Abroad101 was named a finalist in the MassChallenge Global Startup Competition and Accelerator and awarded $50,000. The competition is the world’s largest for startups and is open to companies with less than $500,000 dollars of aggregate investment to date (grants not included, except for non-profit entrants) and less than $1,000,000 in revenue over the last 12 months. Criteria for judgment included impact, scalability, competitive positioning, and execution, and the 111 "highest-potential" startups were able to participate in a 3-month accelerator program that provided intensive mentoring and access to free resources including office space, legal support and targeted introductions to customers and funding sources. The team from Abroad101 was one of 16 finalists of the 450 teams entered from 26 countries and 24 states.
Ain studied sociology and philosophy at Hamilton and was a member of Phi Beta Chi and the HC Orchestra.
