Take a group of active middle schoolers, add in 15 Hamilton students, put them in a gym with game, crafts, and pizza and a healthy dose of competition, and you have the popular Hangin’ with Hamilton.
COOP organizes Hangin’ with Hamilton at Clinton Middle School (CMS) twice a semester. It’s a night of fun for all involved as the Hamilton students head down to the CMS gym to play games, do crafts, listen to Hamilton a Capella groups, and, enjoy some pizza with about 35 middle school students.
“We start out with just some free gym time - usually involving games of knock-out, volleyball, jump-rope - and then move on to play the fan-favorite Castle Ball (a cross between dodgeball and capture the flag) and kick ball, split into two huge teams,” said organizer Katherine Spano ’18.
Spano said the recent event was a great time. “The Hamilton students love to hang out with the CMS kids and let loose a little. The CMS students love having Hamilton folks at their awesome school spending time with them in such a fun and relaxed way doing things they love to do,” Spano added, noting the middle school students especially enjoy “showing their gym game dominance.”
