Associate Professor of Sociology Jaime Kucinskas is a co-editor of a new book titled Situating Spirituality: Context, Practice, and Power, published by Oxford University Press.
According to the publisher, the volume includes essays by international scholars of spirituality in an examination of “spirituality across a range of global context and religious traditions,” providing “a new framework for understanding the social dimensions of contemporary spirituality.”
The description says the essays presented “examine not only individual engagements with spirituality, but they show how seemingly personal facets of spirituality, as well as definitions of spirituality itself, are deeply shaped by religious, cultural, and political contexts.”
The book is organized in sections focusing on “Context,” “Practice,” and “Power.” Kucinskas contributed an essay on “The Transmission of Spirituality in Broader Landscapes of Power.”
