The Hamilton community mourns the loss of Thomas E. Meehan, member of the Class of 1951 and 2002 Honorary Degree recipient, who died earlier this week. Meehan, who started his career writing for The New Yorker, was best known as the author of the books for three of the most successful Broadway musicals of the past 40 years — Annie, The Producers, and Hairspray – for which he won Tony awards. His life has been celebrated in obituaries around the world including this one in The New York Times.
