Hamilton College dropped a 3-0 decision to visiting Colby College (7-4, 4-4 NESCAC) Saturday in NESCAC action at Campus Road Athletic Field.

Erin Maguire ’15 scored a pair of first-half goals six minutes apart for the Mules, who outshot Hamilton 20-8. Maguire’s first goal, assisted by Kellie Walsh ‘15, came in the 21st minute following one of Colby’s five penalty corners. McKayla Blanch ’17 took a long pass then crossed the ball to Maguire to put the Mules up 2-0.

Megan Fortier ’16 scored her team-leading ninth goal of the season with 12 minutes left in the second half, pushing the ball into the net after a tie-up with Hamilton goalkeeper Victoria Trentini ’14.

Trentini made eight saves for the Continentals. Sarah Evans ’16 stopped three shots for her sixth shutout of the season. With the win, the Mules earned a bid in the eight-team 2013 NESCAC Field Hockey Championship.

The Continentals (3-8, 1-7 NESCAC) host Utica College Wednesday at 7 p.m. in non-conference play.
