Niagara County Assistant District Attorney Charles F. Pitarresi '80 has announced his candidacy for the office of Niagara Falls City Judge, which goes to vote in November. The office became vacant in November 2007 after the N.Y.S. Court of Appeals dismissed Robert M. Restaino for incarcerating 46 courtroom spectators when none stepped forward as the owner of an unruly and disruptive cell phone.
Pitarresi, a lifetime resident of Niagara Falls, has served as prosecutor for several years. He has litigated thousands of misdemeanor cases, and now chiefly handles felony cases in County Court, specifically white collar crime, automobile theft, insurance fraud, and narcotics cases.
Pitarresi, a Republican, has begun gathering nomination petition signatures on a bipartisan basis, and hopes to succeed interim judge Diane L. Vitello, a Democrat, in the fall.
Pitarresi will serve a ten-year term if elected.
