A benefit performance of Eve Ensler's "The Vagina Monologues" will be performed at Hamilton as part of the V-Day College Campaign on Saturday, Feb. 14 at 7 p.m. in the Fillius Events Barn. The purpose of the V-Day Campaign is to raise awareness and money to stop violence against women around the world, with "V" standing for "Victory, Valentine and Vagina." This year, the theme for the campaign is "Vagina Warriors: An Emerging Paradigm, An Emerging Species," and the V-Day spotlight is on Missing and Murdered Women of Juarez, Mexico.

This is the fifth year Hamilton has participated in the V-Day College Campaign. This year, 608 colleges around the country and the world will participate in the College Campaign by presenting performances of Ensler's award-winning play celebrating female sexuality. Hailed by The New York Times as "funny" and "poignant," "The Vagina Monologues" dives into the mystery, humor, pain, power, wisdom, outrage and excitement of women's experiences. Monologues will be read by Hamilton students, faculty and staff. A $5 donation is requested to benefit the Hall House in Utica, the domestic violence center of the YWCA Mohawk Valley. The event is sponsored by the Sexual Assault Center, the Womyn's Center, the Office of the President, and Alpha Theta Chi.
