North Central College took the lead for good with seven runs in the bottom of the third inning, and went on to defeat Hamilton College 13-6 at Lake Myrtle Field in Auburndale, Fla., on March 24.
 
Hamilton finished its Florida trip with a record of 3-9. North Central (7-1) -- from Naperville, Illinois -- earned its fifth straight win.
 
Andrew Perkowski ‘10 started on the mound and took the loss for the Continentals. Michael Caruso ‘12 came on in relief in the third inning. Joe Buicko ‘11 had two singles and drove in a run. Wes Mayberry ’11 added two singles and drove in two runs. Kevin Prindle ’13 smacked a run-scoring double in the eighth inning.
 
North Central went up 1-0 in the second inning. Hamilton took the lead with two runs in the top of the third, but the Cardinals scored seven runs in the bottom of the inning for an 8-2 lead. The Continentals rallied with two runs in the fourth, and North Central came right back with three in the bottom of the frame.

Hamilton made the score 11-5 with a single run in the top of the fifth, only to have North Central add to its lead with two more runs in the bottom of the inning. The Continentals scored one last run in the eighth inning for the final margin.
 
Hamilton host SUNY Cobleskill for a non-conference doubleheader in the Continentals' home opener on Sunday, March 28.
