Peter Cameron, a 1982 graduate of Hamilton College and author of three novels, will visit the campus as writer-in-residence from Feb. 18-22, and do a public reading of his works on Thursday, Feb. 21, at 8 p.m. in the Beinecke Events Barn. The reading is free and open to the public, and will be followed by a reception.
Cameron is the author of three novels - Leap Year (1990), The Weekend (1994) and Andorra (1997), as well as three collections of short stories. A new novel, The City of Your Final Destination, is scheduled for publication in April. Cameron's fiction has been published in magazines, including The New Yorker, The Paris Review, Mademoiselle and Rolling Stone, and included in the Prize Stories: The O. Henry Prize Awards for 1985, 1986 and 1995. His work has been translated into Japanese, German, Italian, Spanish, Dutch, Portuguese, Norwegian, Finnish and Catalan.
As writer-in-residence, Cameron will meet with students individually to discuss work received prior to his visit, and participate in classes at the instructor's invitation.
