The New England-style village of Clinton, N.Y., has been transformed into an outdoor walking art gallery as part of a summertime promotion by the local Chamber of Commerce and the Kirkland Art Center.
Twenty-seven Adirondack-style rocking chairs, manufactured especially for this promotion by Pleasant View Lawn Furniture of Knoxboro, have been painted with original artwork by local artists. The chairs are being displayed on sidewalks throughout the Village of Clinton. Hamilton sponsored three chairs for the promotion and has one on exhibit in the Admission Office.
One of the 27 chairs will be raffled off during the Second Annual Art & Music Festival on Saturday, Aug. 25. The remaining chairs will be auctioned to the highest bidder. Those interested in placing a bid on their favorite "Clinton Rocker" may do so by contacting the village merchant where the rocker is located. High bidders will receive their rockers soon after the promotion ends on Thursday, Sept. 20, at 4 p.m.
The promotion is intended to increase summer tourism and to promote Clinton as a community where the arts are valued and supported.
