Assistant Dean for Accessibility Resources Allen Harrison Jr. recently participated in a webinar titled “Coaching in Disability Services: A Panel Discussion,” hosted by AHEAD – the Association on Higher Education and Disability. He was joined by colleagues from Virginia Tech, Syracuse University, and Tufts, all of whom have successfully integrated coaching into their disability services work.

The group shared their experiences, the inspiration that led them to learn coaching, and the benefits and roadblocks in the transition to coaching. They also offered advice for those who are considering entering the field, providing practical wisdom and some of the results of using coaching in their work.

According to its website, AHEAD was founded in 1977 and “delivers exceptional professional development opportunities through conferences, workshops, webinars, publications, and consultation,” “fosters community and member networking,” and “disseminates data, promotes research, and furthers evidence-based practice.”

Help us provide an accessible education, offer innovative resources and programs, and foster intellectual exploration.
