  • Eight Hamilton College athletes served as volunteer referees at a Special Olympics New York bocce ball tournament held at the Toccolana Club in Rome, N.Y., on Sept. 12. Hamilton Women’s Hockey and Softball joined the Baseball team for what has become an uplifting annual event for both Hamilton’s athletes and the Special Olympians they are there to support.

  • Visiting Professor of Art History Scott MacDonald has published a nonfiction novel, Binghamton Babylon, (Suny Series, Horizons of Cinema)  which documents one of the crucial creative adventures in the history of the academic study of cinema.

  • The fall F.I.L.M. (Forum on Image and Language in Motion) series starts Sunday, Sept. 27, as the Alloy Orchestra provides live accompaniment for The Man with a Movie Camera (1929). All F.I.L.M. screenings are on Sunday afternoons at 2 p.m. in the Bradford Auditorium in the Kirner-Johnson Building and are free and open to the public.

  • Hamilton College Performing Arts presents Alash Ensemble of Tuva on Saturday, Sept. 26, at 7:30 p.m., in Wellin Hall, Schambach Center for Music and the Performing Arts.

  • The Slocan Narrows Archaeological Project, directed by Associate Professor of Anthropology Nathan Goodale and Visiting Instructor of Anthropology Alissa Nauman, was featured in a photograph on the September cover of the Society for American Archaeology (SAA) publication The SAA Archaeological Record. Pictured on the is the excavation at a 2,600-year-old pithouse at the project site located in southeastern British Columbia with field school students Anna Arnn ’17, Mariah Walzer ’17 and Michael Graeme (Selkirk College/University of Victoria).  

  • The  Hamilton College Department  of Music presents a vocal recital with Jon Fredric West, heldentenor, and Kenneth Bowen, piano, on Friday, Sept. 25, at 7:30 p.m., in  Wellin Hall, Schambach Center for Music and the Performing Arts.

  • Visiting Professor of Art Jane Fine and Assistant Professor of Art Rob Knight took 20 senior art concentrators and advanced painting students to Golden Artist Colors and the Golden Foundation for the Arts in New Berlin, NY, on Sept. 16.  They toured the factory floor with Barbara and Emma Golden, and learned about the history of the company and how the paints are made.  The group also visited their studio residency program and met the four current artists working there.
