The Office of Multicultural Affairs is collaborating with a number of student organizations to sponsor CultureFest, a two day event designed to celebrate cultural diversity at Hamilton College. CultureFest will kick off on Friday, Nov. 8, at 9 p.m. in the Events Barn with a Poetry Slam, followed by a Latin Night after party at 10:30 p.m. The Asian Cultural Society is planning a Diwali Festival on Saturday, Nov. 9, at 6 p.m. in the Annex, followed by a number of creative performances and an after party. And of course how could we have a CultureFest without food? One element that has been missing from previous CultureFest celebrations is participation from the faculty and staff. If you have a creative talent that you would like to share during this celebration, please contact Marc David as soon as possible at ext. 4012, or mdavid@hamilton.edu. Don't allow Culturefest to pass this year without showing your support.

Hamilton College will host a panel discussion, "U.S. Politics Post 9/11," on Monday, Nov. 11, at 4 p.m. in the Hub at the Bristol Campus Center. The panel is part of The Excellence in Education series, brought to Central New York as a special collaborative project of the local institutions of higher education. Participants will include Utica College Associate Professor of Communication Arts David Habbel, Hamilton College Associate Professor of Government Philip Klinkner, and Hamilton Visiting Instructor of Government Kristin Campbell.

Lecturer in voice Lauralyn Kolb has released a CD Just Spring: Art Songs of John Duke (New World Records) that was reviewed in Journal of Singing(Sept-Oct.). The review notes "(Kolb) brings a bright and colorful sporano voice to the proceeedings, alogn with crystal-clear diction and rock-solid musical instincts."

Kevin Danaher,co-founder of The Global Exchange, will be the next guest in the Levitt Center Globalization series. He will give a lecture, "Globalize This! Why You Should be out in the Street Protesting the World Bank and IMF," on Thursday, Oct. 24, at 7:30 p.m. in the Chapel. Sponsored by the Globalization Seminar Series.

Shortly after the 25th annual weekend gathering of a group of Hamilton alumni for the Falmouth Road Race in Falmouth, MA, the idea of "Team Trish" was born. "The goals of Team Trish are twofold," said Barb Smalley '83 who helped coordinate the team. "We want to support the Rosts as well as support The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's mission of finding cures and providing much needed patient services."

Erik Jacobsen '02, with his faculty advisor Professor of Geography Eugene Domack, published a paper in the Bulletin in Quaternary and Geomorphology. This paper, "Late Pleistocene-Holocene retreat of the West Antarctic Ice-Sheet System in the Ross Sea: Part 2 - Sedimentologic and Stratigraphic Signature," has been nominated for the prestigious Geological Society of America Kirk Bryan Award. This award is given for a paper or book published within the past five years and is awarded at the annual GSA meeting.

The classics department hosted a performance of THE ILIAD by the Curio Theatre Company on February 6 in the Chapel.
