  • Hamilton College graduate Ryan Mulligan '08 has recently made history when he became the first American Rugby League player to export his talents down-under.  Mulligan, standing just less than 6ft. and weighing 220 lb., recently signed with the South Newcastle Knights in New South Wales as the first in what could become a regular player exchange.

  • Colby College scored three goals in the third period and the visiting Mules went on to a 5-3 win against Hamilton College in a New England Small College Athletic Conference game played at Russell Sage Rink on Feb. 7.

  • Photographs taken by Hamilton graduate Alexis Mann '05 are being featured in this month's issue of Sun Magazine.  The Sun, which features black and white photography, creative writing, and poetry, is a competitive medium for both emerging and established artists who endeavor to summon the "splendor and heartache of being human."

  • A video featuring six Hamilton students discussing the vice presidential debate on Thursday, Oct. 2, tops the Washington Post Vote '08 Web site. Produced by senior Eric Kuhn, the video features sophomore Scott Bixby and seniors Kara Labs, Melissa Balding, Sam Risen, David Riordan and Allison Gaston-Enholm. Five students felt that Biden had prevailed in the debate and one student was undecided. The video, which also is on the CBS News site, appears with a video produced on the campus of Columbia University.

  • Ray Flame Entertainment Inc. announced their browser game Lords of Evil enters its official Open Beta at 00:00 p.m. on Oct.8 of game time(EST).   • Gustavo Arellano, contributing editor of The Los Angeles Times and author of the best-selling book, Ask a Mexican!, will speak on Tuesday, Oct. 7, at 7:30 p.m. in  Hamilton's Fillius Events Barn. The lecture, in celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month, is sponsored by the Office of the Dean of Students and is free and open to the public.

  • Muggles in the village of Clinton will have the rare opportunity to brandish their wands Oct. 24-25 while they tour the majestic Hogwarts Castle, brought to life by students at Hamilton College. "Hogwarts at Hamilton," an event sponsored by the College and organized by student actors and actresses, transforms Emerson Hall into a magical place of spells and potions. Admission is free to the public; however, any donations the club receives directly support the Kirkland Town Library. 

  • Professor of French John C. O'Neal recently finished his second term as president of the Northeast American Society for Eighteenth-Century Studies at the annual meeting held at Hobart and William Smith Colleges, Oct. 31-Nov 2. O'Neal had served previously as president of this society in 1992-1993. At the Geneva conference, he organized a session on ambiguity in the politics, literature, and history of the Enlightenment. He also presided over the meeting of the executive board and the general assembly of members during the banquet.
