Jazmine Coleman '09 has been selected as a delegate to the 2009 FACES "On Common Ground" Conference. FACES (Forum for American/Chinese Exchange at Stanford) was founded in 2001 by a Stanford University student who was studying in Beijing and was struck by conflicting stories in American and Chinese media. FACES was established on the idea that in order for the U.S. and China to be a force for peace and prosperity, both countries must learn to trust and understand each other.

The BioTour bus made a stop at Hamilton on Feb. 24. BioTour is an educational non-profit comprised of 13 young people who travel the country on two school buses that they've converted to run on waste vegetable oil (WVO) and solar paneled electrical power. Their presentations are aimed at educating listeners about smart policies and realistic practices in renewable energy. Hamilton students toured the bus outside the Science Center and in front of KJ.

BioTour, an educational non-profit working toward building a national movement in sustainability, will visit the Hamilton campus on Tuesday, Feb. 24. BioTour is comprised of 13 young people who travel the country on two school buses that they've converted to run on waste vegetable oil (WVO) and solar paneled electrical power. Meet them and tour their bus in front of the Science Center from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., and again in front of KJ (in the driveway circle) from 2 - 4 p.m. They will be making a special presentation in the KJ Auditorium at 7:30 p.m.

Hamilton College will host a reading by 2009 Writer-in-Residence Dave King on Wednesday, Feb. 25, at 8 p.m. in the Fillius Events Barn. Free and open to the public, it is sponsored by the Dean of Faculty and hosted by the English Department. King will read from his debut novel, The Ha-Ha, which was named one of the best books of 2005 by The Christian Science Monitor and was included on The Washington Post list of the season's best novels.

Art students, led by Katharine Kuharic, the Kevin W. Kennedy Associate Professor of Art, traveled to New York City on Feb. 19-21 to tour the studios of respected contemporary artists Polly Apfelbaum, Kurt Kauper, Julie Heffernan, Justine Kurland and Carolee Schneeman. Hamilton's 2009 Public Speaking Competition will take place on Saturday, Feb. 28, from 1-5 p.m. in the Chapel. In this annual event students will compete for three different prizes: The McKinney Prize, The Clark Prize, and The Warren Wright Prize. 

Eric Kuhn '09 interviewed the co-author of Twitter Power: How to Dominate Your Market One Tweet at a Time using blogtalkradio.com. Huffington Post included the interview in an entry on its site appearing on Feb. 24. In an Internet-based revival of his "Kuhn and Company" radio program originally heard on WHCL, Kuhn discussed the advantages of Twitter to corporations and individuals with Joel Comm.

Hamilton College finished sixth in the highly-competitive, three-day New England Small College Athletic Conference championships held at Bowdoin College's Leroy Greason Pool on Feb. 22.

Hamilton College won two matches, including a 6-3 victory against Denison University, to capture the Summers "C" Division consolation bracket title at the College Squash Association team championships hosted by Princeton University from Feb. 20 to Feb. 22.

Hamilton College athletes competed in the multi-divisional, non-team scoring Marc Deneault Memorial Invitational held at Cornell Universty's Barton Hall on Feb. 21.
