Associate Professor of Africana Studies Donald Carter presented a paper as part of the W. E. B. Du Bois Black Europeans: Race and the New Europe lecture series at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, on April 6. His paper was titled "Blackness over Europe: Meditations on Migrancy, Culture and Belonging."

Norman Bowie, the Elmer Anderson Chair in Corporate Responsibility and Strategic Management/Organization at the University of Minnesota, and former Hamilton philosophy professor, will present "Economics: Friend or Foe of Ethics?" on Monday, April 20, at 4:15 p.m. in the Science Center's Kennedy Auditorium. The lecture is co-sponsored by the Philosophy Department. It is free and open to the public.

Blakeman, a Jewish-American and Obeidallah, a Palestinian-American, will present a comedy show that brings people from all backgrounds together to laugh, and encourages a dialogue in support of a peaceful, political resolution of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

Katheryn Doran, associate professor of philosophy, participated in a podcast with Randy Cohen, author of The New York Times Magazine Ethicist column (4/16/09). Each week in the podcast Cohen answers readers' questions on ethical issues. The podcasts are broadcast on The New York Times Web site, nyt.com. Doran read this week's questions and was identified as a philosophy professor at Hamilton College.
