Students on Hamilton’s Program in NYC recently paid a visit to Richard Bernstein Advisors, an investment advising firm founded by alumnus Richard Bernstein ’80.  After working at Merrill Lynch as the chief investment strategist, Bernstein left Merrill in 2008 and started his own firm in 2009, in the midst of the Great Recession.

Three essays by Derek Jones, the Irma M. and Robert D. Morris Professor of Economics, have been reprinted as chapters in The Economics Of Worker Cooperatives. The book was edited by John Pencavel of Stanford University and is part of The International Library of Critical Writings in Economics series from Edward Elgar Publishing.

Derek Jones, the Irma M. and Robert D. Morris Professor of Economics, presented “Worker Separation and Sorting Under Performance Pay: A Duration Analysis of Finnish Linked Employer-Employee Data” on June 28 at the Society for the Advancement of Socio-Economics (SASE) conference in Milan, Italy.

Irma M. and Robert D. Morris Professor of Economics Derek Jones presented “How employment responds to changes in assets at U.S. banks and credit unions” at the Fourth Euricse International Workshop on Cooperative Finance and Sustainable Development held June 20-21 in Trento, Italy.

Irma M. and Robert D. Morris Professor of Economics Derek Jones co-authored a chapter in the Handbook on the Economics of Reciprocity and Social Enterprise.

An essay co-authored by Irma M. and Robert D. Morris Professor of Economics Derek Jones was published in Pour une nouvelle mondialisation : le défi d’innover, a volume in the Social Innovation series published by the Presses de l’Université du Québec.

An article co-authored by Derek Jones, the Irma M. and Robert D. Morris Professor of Economics, was published in the inaugural issue of the Journal of Entrepreneurial and Organizational Diversity (JEOD). “Economies of Scale Versus Participation:  a Co-operative Dilemma?” was written with Panu Kalmi of the University of Vaasa.

An article co-authored by Derek Jones, the Irma M. and Robert D. Morris Professor of Economics, was published as a chapter in Volume 13 of Advances in the Economic Analysis of Participatory and Labor-Managed Firms. “Insider Ownership and Firm Performance: Evidence from Bulgaria” was written with Mark Klinedinst, emeritus professor of economics at the University of Southern Mississippi.

Derek Jones, the Irma M. and Robert D. Morris Professor of Economics, chaired a session on “The Dynamics of Variable Pay” at the 2012 International Association for the Economics of Participation (IAFEP) Conference and Beyster Symposium July 13-14 at Rutgers University.

An article co-authored by Irma M. and Robert D. Morris Professor of Economics Derek Jones was published in the April issue of the International Journal of Human Resource Management.
