Students in Hamilton’s program in NYC met with Michael Stone ’72, founder and CEO of Beanstalk, a global brand licensing corporation on Feb. 11 to learn about the brand licensing business.  

Hamilton College is among  U.S. colleges and universities that produced the most 2014-2015 Fulbright U.S. students,  according to the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs.  The Fulbright Program is the U.S. government’s flagship international educational exchange program.  

Hamilton NYC students visited the Museum of Chinese Americans in Chinatown for a guided tour of its special exhibit titled “Waves of Identity: 35 Years of Archiving.” Alice Fung, an educator at MOCA, described Chinatown in the 1970s when the museum was founded and how it changed and grew over time.

Students participating in Hamilton’s Program in Washington, D.C. recently visited the Newseum. The Newseum, featuring many interactive exhibits, is the museum dedicated to the history of news.  Its seven-floors are made up of thematically organized theaters and galleries.

Students in Hamilton's NYC program went to the United Nations on  Jan. 28 for a general tour. International relations concentrator Dimitru Kaigorodov ’16 contacted his former Hamilton professor Calin Trenkov-Wermuth ’00 who now works at the UN's Department of Peacekeeping Operations. Trenkov-Wermuth met the group and answered questions about his work there.

Mandy Lin ’15 has been selected to be a student ambassador for the USA Pavilion at Expo Milano 2015. Under the auspices of the U.S. Department of State, the USA Pavilion will showcase American innovation in addressing the challenge of feeding the world's growing population and highlight developments in American culinary culture. The theme is American Food 2.0: United to Feed the Planet.

While many students in the class of 2016 are either abroad or at Hamilton programs in New York City and Washington, D.C., both Carrie Solomon ’16 and Jessye McGarry ’16 opted for an alternate city experience. This fall, the two students have pursued their passion for comedy in a semester-long program, straight from the source at The Second City’s Chicago-based comedic headquarters.

The Hamilton Program in NYC students took a train from Grand Central to Stamford, Conn., on Oct. 29 to meet with Robert Morris ’76, P’16,’17 managing partner of the private equity firm, Olympus Partners.

Students in the Hamilton Program in New York City continued a tradition with a recent visit to the Bowery Mission, where they spent the afternoon volunteering in the kitchen.

George Mack ’92, managing director at Barclays Global Restructuring and Finance Group, hosted the Program in New York City students and shared his experiences in finance, his views on the market, and provided insight as to how he got where he is today.
