  • The Hamilton Model EU team brought 10 students to the 29th annual Euro-Sim event, held at Antwerp University in Belgium  from Jan. 3-7. Hamilton student participants were Dumitru (Dima) Kaigorodov ’16,  Annie Berman ’18, Daniel Berrick ’18,  Victoria Bulivant ’18, Kevin Roback ’17, Hallie Skripak Gordon ’16, Charlotte Carstens ’16, Nicolas Yardas ’18, Hristina (Tina) Mangelova ’16 and Alex Hollister ’17.  The students were accompanied by their advisor Visiting Assistant Professor of Government Ivan Rasmussen.

  • Hamilton juniors Angel Pichardo and Hannah Strong have been awarded Gilman International Scholarship Program awards for undergraduate study abroad in the spring 2016 semester. Pichardo plans to study in the biomedicine program at the Danish Institute for Study Abroad (DIS) in Copenhagen, Denmark, and Strong will enroll at the University of Capetown, South Africa, in the Council on International Educational Exchange (CIEE) arts and sciences program.

  • Students participating in Hamilton’s Program  in New York City recently had the opportunity to visit Facebook. Fabio Freyre ’83 (VP of Global Marketing Solutions at Facebook), gave the students a tour of the New York office and shared his insights about the company. According to Freyre, Facebook’s goal is to connect the world through its family of apps: Facebook, Messenger, Instagram and Whatsapp.

  • Thanksgiving is not a holiday observed in Spain. However, on Thursday, Nov. 26, students in the Hamilton Academic Year in Spain (HCAYS) got together to mark the American holiday.  They celebrated Thanksgiving in a special meal featuring turkey, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, and pumpkin and apple pie made especially for them at La Gamella restaurant.  The group was very grateful for this opportunity.

  • Students from Hamilton’s Program in New York City recently visited Arthur Levitt Jr. at Bloomberg L.P. Bloomberg is a financial software, data and media company headquartered in Manhattan. Arthur Levitt is an active member of the board as well as the host of Bloomberg Radio’s “A Closer Look With Arthur Levitt.”

  • Hamilton’s Program in Washington, D.C. recently met former six-term Delaware Congressman Mike Castle ’61 at his DC office of DLA Piper. DLA Piper is a global law firm with lawyers located in more than 30 countries. Castle also served as Delaware’s governor for two terms.

  • Students on Hamilton’s Academic Year in Spain program left Madrid on Nov. 12 for a four-day cultural trip to Barcelona, the second largest city in Spain. Capital of Catalonia, and the most important port of the Mediterranean cost in Spain, Barcelona offers a wide diversity of cultural experience. The students were able to explore the city´s unique personality, language, and culture, and experience first-hand its strong sense of identity and uniqueness.

  • * Editor's note. This activity took place before the Nov. 13 terrorist attacks in Paris. All Hamilton in France Program  students are accounted for and safe. Hamilton in France Program students recently visited the Palais des Papes in Avignon, France. The Palais des Papes was home to nine popes during the 14th century, and remains the largest Gothic palace in Europe. Students observed the impressive palace constructed out of limestone native to southern France.

  • New York Program students were recently invited to spend the morning at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York. Students got the opportunity to speak with Andrea Tambalotti, an assistant vice president in the Research and Statistics group at the Fed, and afterwards were treated to a tour of the famous gold vault and a brief overview tour. The group was also joined by Rujun Han '15 who is currently working as a research analyst at the Fed.

  • Hamilton students in the Program in Washington, D.C. recently visited The American Enterprise Institute (AEI) and met with Asian foreign policy expert Michael Auslin.  AEI is a think tank dedicated to issues of government, politics, economics and social welfare.
